our approach

Modern Slavery is not a new phenomenon, it happens in every continent and there are currently 40 million people around the world who are victims of modern slavery (ILO 2016).

街机电玩捕鱼比赛As an international business, with a diverse supply chain we take the welfare of our workforce extremely seriously. It is therefore important to highlight the challenges facing human rights internationally and ensure our workforce are aware of where to seek support, in confidence.

We have taken significant strides forward in recent years to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing human rights internationally, including forced labour in southern Africa.

街机电玩捕鱼比赛We are now working to clearly articulate these principles to our workforce, growers and the wider supply chain.

our policies

Our new 2019 AB Sugar Modern Slavery Statement aligns with the principles of the Associated British Foods plc (ABF)  but puts the challenge and risks into a sugar context. Building on our 2018 statement, this year's details our progress over the past 12 months as well as closely reflecting our substantial agriculture and manufacturing international footprint.

The statement aims to explain what we perceive to be the biggest potential modern slavery risks in our business footprint and the strategy we intend to use to mitigate against those potential risks.

our activities

This year, we created a modern slavery animation to raise awareness and explain in a clear and concise way the different types of modern slavery (including child labour, forced labour and bonded labour) and explain them in the context of AB Sugar and the sugar industry.

街机电玩捕鱼比赛The animation takes examples from across the entire end-to-end supply chain and shows how modern slavery risks could exist in a variety of scenarios. It also sets out the process of reporting any concerns or instances of modern slavery as detailed in the ABF Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement, including contacting the relevant independent whistleblowing hotlines.

街机电玩捕鱼比赛We are currently sharing this video at every level of our businesses to promote awareness and are exploring how it can be used with our suppliers in the near future. As we continue to ensure a good foundation in awareness of modern slavery across our businesses, we are also looking to develop training to embed ABF’s principles and best practice in the workforce.
